Attadale Gardens - a haven on the West Coast
The exceptional gales of the 1980s led to the restoration of Attadale
gardens. Many trees were blown down and once the clearing up had been
completed, old paths, steps and field drains were revealed. The almost
tropical vegetation is made possible by the warm Gulf Stream and the
steep hills and cliffs provide shelter from cold winds. The main
intention throughout the new planting was that the gardens should blend
with the highland landscape and not compete with it.
