Just stumbled upon something very interesting. The UK's own Aurora watch. I went on the hunt for info on the visibility of the Northern Lights here in Scotland as I have to see them one day. I have also heard from the grapevine that apparently there has been some major activity from the sun over the last few weeks and that the Northern Lights were visible in Scotland. A quick search on 'ol google and Aurora Watch UK seems to be what everybody needs that wants to know where and when they might be able to see the Northern Lights here in the UK.
'The aurora borealis (or northern lights) is a spectacular natural phenomenon which can occasionally be seen in the night sky over Britain. Once seen, it is never forgotten. AuroraWatch UK allows you to monitor geomagnetic activity in real time, and will let you know when aurora may be visible from the UK.
We offer free alerts to notify you whenever aurora is likely to be seen from the UK. These alerts can be forwarded to your phone as a text message, so you will know when to look out for aurora wherever you are.'
