This afternoon, as promised, my family and I went to the Finlaystone Teddy Bears' Picnic. The weather was toying with us for the whole morning but we dressed accordingly and set off. When we arrived we were relieved to find that the Rangers had prepared for the worst weather and set up chairs indoors for the puppet and magic shows. We were lucky since there was only a brief shower but even so it is amazing just how much shelter the trees provide.
Finlaystone interviews with both the Chief MacMillan and the Head Ranger - David Finnis
While attending the Teddy Bears Picnic at Finlaystone on the 22nd of May 2011 we took the opportunity to interview both the Chief MacMillan and the Head Ranger - David Finnis. We talk to Clan Chief McMillan about the clan, the history of the estate and also talk to David about what Finlaystone offers.

We arrived a little later than a lot of the other visitors and missed the first puppet show, but from what I could gather, it went down really well with both the kids and parents alike and they made sure they didn't miss the next show as a result. The magic show was really sweet, both my children were fascinated by the magic show. I was really impressed as the kids were continuously being engaged with the show. The 2nd puppet show was the same, the children were expected to take part and it went down really well. I also found it to have been well thought out because both puppet shows were different.

After the shows, I took the kids for a walk up to the play parks (there are a few!!) The trails are really well designed and you are constantly being surprised with another cool thing. I am sure everyone heard my daughter scream in delight at the site of the pirate ship which we later struggled to move her away from. We then took a short walk up one of the walking trails and were awe inspired at the view of a beautiful lake. Look out for those pics!! After one last shot of the slide, we made our way home. The drive home was bliss with both kids asleep completely pooped from all the running around. PRICELESS!!!

We will definitely be going back to the estate whether its for one of their many events or just for a family barbecue.  I would really recommend visiting Finlaystone. Coming Soon  - Feature on walking in the estate.
